His restaurant, located just steps from the Malo-les-Bains seafront, is a true haven where you feel right at home.

 

Here, there are no frills, just authentic, genuine, and well-made ingredients, reflecting the Dunkirk region that the chef showcases through local produce and perfectly balanced flavors.

Originally from Dunkirk, Charles Bruneval grew up surrounded by the sea and nature, deeply influenced by the time he spent with his grandmother Renée, who instilled in him a love of sharing, quality ingredients, and genuine simplicity. At a young age, he left his hometown for Paris, where he trained for over ten years under renowned chefs such as Michel Rostang, Guy Savoy, and Thierry Marx. There, he honed his skills, technical expertise, and refined palate, all the while nurturing the desire to one day return to his native land. Back in Malo-les-Bains, he created Renée, the restaurant of his dreams.une table sincère, ancrée dans le terroir du Nord où se mêlent nature, mémoire et émotion. Appeler son restaurant Renée était une évidence : un hommage tendre à celle qui lui a tout appris, de l’art de cuisiner à celui de recevoir. Aujourd’hui, il perpétue cet esprit avec son équipe, dans un lieu où convivialité et exigence se conjuguent au quotidien.
